Angioplasty with stenting can be life-saving when offered within 12 to 36 hours after a heart attack. But new research involving 2,166 patients in 27 countries indicates that after this window of opportunity closes, angioplasty is no more effective than medications in providing long-term benefits to stable patients those without symptoms.
