Q. The beta-blocker I take for blood pressure makes me tired. Is there a good substitute?

Beta-blockers lower heart rate and blood pressure by blocking epinephrine (adrenaline) from entering the cells. Beta-blockers make some—but not all— people feel tired. Individual response may depend on your body size, other medications you are taking and whether the drugs have caused your heart rate or blood pressure to fall too low. Some beta-blockers are known to cause more side effects than others.
