Q. After running or playing singles tennis, it seems to be taking my heart longer than usual to slow down. Should I be concerned?

A

How quickly your heart returns to normal after exercising is called heart rate recovery. Ideally, one minute after you stop exercising your heart rate should have dropped more than 12 beats a minute from its fastest rate during peak exercise. If your heart rate recovery is slower, you are at increased risk for future heart problems.
