A stiff, calcified aortic valve limits the amount of oxygenated blood the heart delivers to organs throughout the body. Left untreated, this condition—called aortic stenosis—can eventually be deadly. Fortunately, a damaged aortic valve can be replaced in a surgical or catheter-based procedure.
