An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is not something we typically recommend for the home. They are good for areas with a large number of people, including sports arenas and airports. The odds of an individual having a cardiac arrest are low, but when you multiply the individual risk by a large number of people, the risk of someone having an arrest warrants an AED.
