Stress tests are useful for evaluating the extent and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) as it affects heart function, but it does not visualize plaques that interfere with blood flow, nor reveal their size or location. For this you need an angiogram taken during cardiac catheterization or a noninvasive CT scan to visualize the arteries.
