The American Heart Association estimates that about 50% of adults in the United States have higher-than-optimal blood pressure. It’s a distressing percentage, considering that high blood pressure (hypertension) is a major contributor to coronary artery disease, heart failure, heart valve disease, arrhythmias, carotid artery disease, peripheral artery disease and renal (kidney) artery disease.
