Advice Against Using Non-Sugar Sweeteners for Weight Loss
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an advisory against using non-sugar sweeteners (NSS) to lose weight. The advisory includes all naturally occurring and modified NSS added to foods and beverages and those sold on their own for consumers to add themselves (Note: Honey is not considered an NSS). “NSS are not essential to our diet, have no nutritional value and are not helpful for losing body fat. Moreover, they may increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and death in adults,” the organization wrote.
