The idea of using your mind to help preserve your cardiovascular health may seem like something from the distant future, but research at Cleveland Clinic is ongoing to determine whether the self-regulatory therapy can make a difference for patients with conditions such as coronary artery disease (CAD), heart failure, and diabetes. "The term biofeedback refers to the process of accurately measuring and displaying physiological parameters and how they change, so that an individual can learn how to regulate bodily functions which are often thought to be beyond our control," says Christine S. Moravec, PhD, Director of Basic Research at the Kaufman Center for Heart Failure at Cleveland Clinic.
