You and your cardiologist are going to spend a lot of time together in the years ahead, so you want to make sure that relationship is comfortable and that you feel youre getting the care and treatment you deserve. Whether youre a recently diagnosed heart patient, moving to a new state or just interested in finding a different doctor or set of doctors, there are many factors to consider, says Cleveland Clinic cardiologist Curtis Rimmerman, MD. "The main issues to consider include the physicians level of experience, reputation, procedural results, training duration and location, ease of appointment availability, communication skills, compassion and responsivity," Dr. Rimmerman says.
