It Takes More Than Statins To Keep Cholesterol Under Control

Research shows that many patients on statin therapy still arent reaching their LDL cholesterol targets.

If youve been put on statin therapy, but youre not reaching your target levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL or "bad") cholesterol, youre not alone. In fact, according to an international study presented in September at the European Society of Cardiology, almost half of statin-treated patients arent meeting LDL goals. The study also found that even among those patients at their LDL goals, about 25 percent of them had abnormal or unhealthy levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL or "good") cholesterol and/or triglycerides.
