E-cigarettes were developed as a theoretically safer alternative to tobacco cigarettes, and they have certainly caught the public’s attention. Since 2010, use of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) has skyrocketed. While some adults use them as a stop-smoking aid, more than half of participants in a 2016 study reported using ENDS and tobacco cigarettes simultaneously.
