© momcilog | Getty Images People with long COVID continue to experience symptoms for 28 days or longer—even more than a year. Despite having a negative impact on quality of life, the symptoms are rarely life-threatening or associated with new or worsening heart disease.

If you were diagnosed with COVID‑19 and are continuing to experience symptoms more than a month later, you may be one of 18.8 million adults in the United States with post-COVID syndrome, also known as long COVID. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), 25% to 40% of individuals with long COVID are unable to carry out their normal daily activities, and 4 million are unable to return to work.
